For law firms
How American Legal Media works for your firm
A straightforward advertising program for California workers' compensation, employment and personal injury attorneys: verified firms, exclusive consumer inquiries, and a fixed fee for each one delivered.
The process
From first call to first inquiry
Get verified
Send us your firm's legal name, office address and responsible attorney. We check every participating attorney's State Bar profile (Active, with no public discipline) and confirm malpractice coverage, and you sign the advertising agreement.
Set your coverage
Pick your practice areas, the California counties you serve, the languages your office handles, and a daily limit. Save a card with our payment processor; we never see or store the card number.
Receive inquiries
Someone in your coverage area asks to be contacted by an attorney about a matter you handle. The inquiry goes to your firm only, appears in your portal and arrives by email, and the advertising fee is charged on delivery.
What you need to join
- A California State Bar number for each attorney who will handle these matters, with Active status
- A current professional liability certificate, or the written client disclosure required by Rule 1.4.2
- A signed advertising agreement
- A billing contact and a payment method on file
How billing works
- A fixed advertising fee for each consumer inquiry delivered, shown in your portal
- Charged when the inquiry is delivered, with an emailed receipt
- Never based on whether the consumer hires you or on the outcome or value of a matter
- Inquiries we accept as invalid are credited or refunded
The firm portal

Questions
Common questions from firms
Is this a lawyer referral service?
No. American Legal Media is a marketing company that publishes consumer content and advertises on behalf of participating firms. It is not a lawyer referral service and does not recommend one attorney over another.
Are inquiries shared with other firms?
No. Each inquiry is delivered to one participating firm.
Do you guarantee cases or retained clients?
No. An inquiry is a consumer's request to be contacted by an attorney. Whether it becomes an engagement depends on your firm and the consumer. That is why the fee is fixed per inquiry and never tied to retention or outcome.
What does an inquiry cost?
Firms pay a fixed advertising fee per inquiry delivered. The current price is shown in your portal and in your agreement. Call or email us for details before you join.
Which areas do you cover?
Three practice areas across California: workers' compensation; employment (wrongful termination, wage and hour, discrimination and harassment); and personal injury. All 58 counties, in English and Spanish. You choose the practice areas and counties your firm receives.
